Brentwoodian 2022

As I write this article, we have already superseded our fundraising total from last year. Looking at the figure of over £29,000, I am reminded once again of how fantastic we are as a school at fundraising for good causes. The pandemic brought many challenges; one of which was the need to stop fundraising using cash, and to think of innovative ways to collect financial donations and support charities who needed support more than ever. This year, we have clearly triumphed, and though I will mention the ‘headlines’ here, there are so many individuals, and groups, who have contributed to our charitable efforts. The Michaelmas term saw many different opportunities to raise awareness, collect donations and raise funds. In October, the Upper Sixth raised £366 for WaterAid by running activities in aid of Black History Month. The staff took part in a Macmillan Coffee Morning (any excuse for cake!) and raised £201. Our annual Christmas House Foodbank Challenge was so successful that at one point it was hard to see the floor of the Headmaster’s reception! We also gave 73 shoeboxes to Operation Christmas Child. December also saw North raise £184 for one of their charities, Kids Inspire, and it was fantastic to see the House Christmas Fayre back where it belongs in the Memorial Hall! The Houses managed to raise £5,415 for their charities Charity 200
