Brentwoodian 2022

with their innovative stalls including a hoopla featuring ‘reindeer’ ears and a giant electric wire game. Finally, our Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the Children had a sustainability theme; students and staff were encouraged to re-wear or recycle their festive jumper. We raised £3,526 and everyone looked fantastic. Our fundraising momentum did not slow down in the Lent term! Given the very sad news about the conflict in Ukraine, the School produced a list of local and national charities and donation sites to aid refugees or those who had not left the warzone. Our non-uniform day, for the DEC Humanitarian Appeal, raised an astonishing £7,047, with the Music department’s Hymn for the Ukraine raising an additional £1,040, and School House raising £200 for their House week. South House week was another astonishing example of pupil commitment, with House Captain, Alex Mead, swimming 100 miles in March for St Francis Hospice, and raising £3,547; a true inspiration. Weald and West had some great ideas for their House weeks, with Weald running a funfair event on Library Square and West raising funds by doing a staff secondhand clothes sale. However, it wasn’t just the Houses that were busy fundraising. Year 8 continued to support The Royal Marsden charity by doing a ‘wear a pink accessory’ day, and Year 11 raised a fantastic amount for the RNLI, following an inspirational talk from a volunteer. Huge thanks to Ore and Jack, and Mrs Hill, for setting up a basketball tournament which raised £380. 201
