This was another outstanding year for Brentwood School’s golf team continuing their fine form from last year. The team started the season with a few friendlies at some excellent courses (Woburn and Hanbury Manor just to name a few). Then on to the serious business of qualifying for the ISGA National finals. Brentwood School’s golf team has high standards to live up to having enjoyed many great performances in the past few years. We had an enviable selection of players and were looking forward to the coming year with a sense of anticipation. Both A and B teams comfortably won their respective first round matches and were drawn to play each other in the 2nd round. On a cold winter’s afternoon the A Team eventually ended up victorious with the B team putting up a valiant effort. We then played New Hall (our local school rivals) in the Regional Finals on a fresh January afternoon at Orsett Golf Club. Sam Epstein led the team out with a superb 3&1 win over a very strong opponent. Next out, Max Porteous defeated another strong opponent 5&3. Finally, Pierce Mosley managed to hold his nerve and win his match 2up making the score 3-0 in Brentwood’s favour. This meant that the School golf team had reached the ISGA National Finals in three out of the last four years which is an amazing achievement considering the strength of golf in many schools. GOLF 97
