21 From inside the community Mill Road Surgery Autumn greetings from Mill Road Surgery, and this time of year brings the now familiar round of flu vaccines and covid boosters! Hopefully those who are entitled to either or both the vaccines should have had an invite already, or indeed already may have had them, as they started in early October. Vaccine clinics are running on selected Saturdays in October and November, as well as some availability with practice nurses during the week. If you haven’t yet had an invite and fit the criteria below then please let the surgery know: • are aged 65 or over • are pregnant • are aged 6 months to 64 years and have an increased risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 because of a health condition or treatment • live in a care home for older adults If you think you may be at increased risk due to a health condition or treatment then please first check the website below which gives you a thorough list of those who may be more at risk: Visit the NHS Covid-19 website HERE We strongly recommend patients who are eligible to get both the flu vaccine and covid booster to give you as much protection as possible during the autumn and winter months, when respiratory infections are more prevalent. This also helps to keep pressure off essential NHS services during these times when demand is also higher. Moving on, we are really sorry to hear that the 101st issue of the Mylander will be the last issue, as we’ve found it to be an invaluable source of information for our patients over the years and will be sorely missed. Every time a new issue is released I frequently get comments from patients that they’ve read it, and being local myself too, I can add myself to the list of people who will miss it! Going forward please feel free to visit our webpage for updates, information and importantly, there will be increased numbers of appointments for GP’s and Nurse/Paramedic Practitioners available to book online, to save having to call at 8am.
