Mylander - Issue 101

27 Learning & Growing 1st Myland Guides We’re three weeks into the new term, and time has flown by! The girls have been busy working on the “Animal Athletes” UMA, where they tested their jumping, staring, and running skills, comparing themselves to various animals. This was a fun way to get everyone moving and thinking about their own abilities in a creative way. Excitingly, our unit has been chosen to help trial a new Girlguiding interest badge called “Day Tripper.” The girls have also been designing their own interest badges, with many of the designs inspired by some of the classic badges that have been recently retired, showing there’s still a strong appetite for the old favourites. Looking ahead, we’ve got an exciting term planned, including a trip to Blue Owl and our annual wide game, which is always a hit with the Guides. This term tends to be a bit more craft-focused, which everyone enjoys. Over the summer, several girls attended Hautboisfest in Norfolk, where they had a weekend full of activities. Special mention goes to Amelia, Edith and Rosie, who were comperes for the evening event! We’re also looking forward to our upcoming trip to Pleasurewood Hills, where we hope to make some Girlguiding promises on the rollercoasters – always a memorable moment! Interested in joining us?
