Mylander - Issue 83

18 Council Reports Myland Community Council will be putting updates and more resources on how you can keep well & safe on noticeboards and on the website: www.mylandcommunitycouncil.gov.uk Cllr Jocelyn Law Report from the Clerk Even in these strange times, the work of local government continues, and must continue lawfully. The Government has published new legislation to make allowances for social distancing and the closure of so many venues and to enable councils to make decisions in an accountable manner. The requirement to hold an Annual Community Meeting has been disapplied for this year, which means that the meeting due to be held on 20th May this year has been cancelled. For the foreseeable future, all MCC meetings have also been cancelled, but if necessary, there is now the option of holding remote meetings through digital methods. These meetings would be accessible to the public and would be publicised on the Council’s website. The Annual Return, which states that the Council’s accounts have been thoroughly audited, must usually be agreed in public before the end of June. This deadline has been extended to the end of July and the accounts will be available for public inspection at the beginning of September. MCC’s office will be closed to the public for at least the next few weeks. Clear sacks for recycling are left in a box by the front door but unfortunately we are not able to distribute any other stock. If you have any other queries I am at the office each morning to answer the phone and emails. Katherine Kane, Clerk to the Council
