I hope you will all mange to enjoy some of the summer and keep safe at the same time. Tina Potter, Nurse Manager Women’s Institute Looking back over the last three months, for the ladies of the W.I. it has been a very sad season for us all. We have had three former members pass away - Jill Mills, Altha Janney and Sheila Goody. All are fondly remembered and sympathy is extended to their families. In addition to the loss of these members, we have experienced the shock of the death of our President - Ann Duffy. Ann was a much loved and respected President. She was always very efficient and was a great friend to us all. She WILL be greatly missed and we extend our sympathy to all her family at this sad time. It has been strange not being able to meet but our Committee Members have carried out an amazing job by phoning members on a weekly basis, initially checking that everyone was all right. Thank you from us all to the Committee – your concern has been much appreciated by every one of us. During lockdown some of us have been using the time to knit for various charities, as well as making scrubs for the well-deserving NHS staff. The Book Group have enjoyed having extra reading time! We now look forward to the time when we can resume our meetings. The planned programme for the next three months is – • August - John Barter will speak about Frinton on Sea • September - Toni-Baptiste will talk about Cybercrime • October - Bill Roberts will share ‘Funny things in the life of a police officer’ Sandra Jones 25
