Mylander - Issue 85

33 Learning & Growing 1st & 2nd Myland Rainbows Like everyone, normality for the Myland Rainbows was significantly disrupted when a general national lockdown was announced back in March. But we dusted ourselves off and started weekly Virtual Video call sessions after Easter. Numbers taking part increased so that by the end of July, we had more than 80% taking part. The Rainbows completed lots of fun activities at home which resulted in many badges being presented at a socially distanced outdoor games finale meeting. They included 14 Mermaid badges; 20 interest badges; several Skills Builder and Theme badges. But the highlight was presenting six Bronze and two Silver staged awards. Despite everything, we also welcomed five new Rainbows last term too. So if you’re thinking about Rainbows for your small daughters, head to the Girlguiding website: https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-for-parents/register-your-daughter/ We’d love to hear from you. Given the uncertain situation this term, we are continuing with our Virtual video calls with 90% participation and another five new starters which is fantastic. We are wrapping up some Skill Builder badges and are looking forward to further silver and gold awards later in the year. We shall be marking the annual Remembrance with some special activities, put together by Girlguiding in conjunction with the Royal British Legion – virtually of course. A big thank you to all our team volunteers and families for their support of the girls especially and the units in general, Emerald. Lorraine Boyle Myland Rainbow Guider
