23 From inside the community Nature Notes I am noticing an increased focus on the need to revitalise our natural landscape. The Government has now set a target to increase the UK protected green space from 25% to 30% by 2030 and their 25 Year Environment Plan includes the concept of ‘nature recovery networks’ to protect and enhance wildlife habitats. All green space is a habitat and we have lost much to development in Myland. However, I think there is much we still have and can enjoy, both within Myland and by stepping into neighbouring areas and this is what we should protect and enhance. How good it would be to see more of the wild bee orchid again? The colony found in Myland a few years ago has been lost under a farmers plough, but I have found another location which I am keeping to myself for the time-being.
