Mylander - Issue 86
24 From inside the community I shall be working with developers and other Cllrs to map our Myland natural green areas into a local ’nature network’, with connecting green corridors wherever possible. Once we know what we have, we can work on protection and enhancement. This cannot be an overnight thing, but a medium-term plan is highly achievable. This fits well with the idea of providing places to relax, be mindful and benefit our health & well-being. It provides us with a pleasant environment and the wildlife with the means to live and survive. I found another expression of the reasons for doing this in a James ReBanks book I read recently, “Believe in and care about a world that will be there after you are gone. It means you have thought about more than yourself, and that you can imagine a future beyond your own lifespan, and you care about that future” (English Pastoral—An Inheritance). Pete Hewitt Mill Road Surgery Hello everyone, sorry for my absence in the last edition but things have been rather hectic at the surgery as you can imagine! Happy New Year to you all, really hoping this can be a much better year than 2020! Some good news at last, the COVID vaccine has started to be rolled out. Everyone needs to be patient; it will take some months to get this out to everyone. We have started with the over 80’s and will gradually get to everyone, care homes and care staff will hopefully be next. Please don’t contact the surgery regarding the vaccine; we will contact you when it is your turn to be vaccinated. If you haven’t had your flu vaccine yet it is not too late. We will continue to vaccinate until the end of March 2021. Anyone who has a long term health condition or is 50yrs old and above are eligible for a free flu vaccine. Please contact the surgery to book an appointment. This has been a challenging year for all my colleagues at Mill Road Surgery, we have an excellent team and I feel we have coped extremely well. We have always tried to provide a good service in difficult circumstances. Thank you for your patience and understanding, the kind words of thanks has meant a lot. To finish, I will just ask everyone to please continue to abide by the current guidelines and hopefully over the next few months we can start to get back to some normality.
