Learning & Growing Colchester Trefoil Guild In normal time Colchester Trefoil Guild meet once a month, on a Wednesday evening in the Parish Halls. We are still meeting, but virtually, using Zoom. It’s not without its challenges of course, but at least we are still enjoying each other’s company and most importantly are able to support one another in these challenging times. Whether you’re involved in Girlguiding or not, the Trefoil Guild is a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded people to share your next adventure - whatever that might be! Trefoil Guild acts like a branch of Girlguiding and its members agree to support the guiding ethos - including the pledge to help other people. Of course, Trefoil isn’t just for older Guiders (or Scouters), there are Guilds at universities for example. After face to face meetings ended in April we had a gap of a few months without meeting while we enjoyed the spring sunshine and the long summer. Once autumn got nearer and we realised that we weren’t going to meet again in the halls anytime soon, we discussed the option of going virtual. So, in September we started up again, enjoying seeing and hearing each other (once we learnt how to unmute) and enjoying making crafts including upcycling magazines into flowers. We had a moving Remembrance meeting with poems and candles. We have shared our favourite recipes, taxed our brains with quizzes and most importantly laughed a lot. Another highlight for our December meeting was making our Christmas table decoration together, mine sat proudly on our (depleted in numbers) dining table on Christmas Day, reminding me of my Trefoil friends. In the New Year we will meet again, at home, but with hope we will back in the halls very soon.
