Mylander Issue 87
Council Reports Community Engagement Committee As we start to emerge from a year of lockdown restrictions of varying levels, the Community Engagement team has been busy on a variety of projects that look ahead to the future. Our new Myland Hopper community bus is planned to start in late summer. Originally it had been hoped to start this earlier in the year, but the start has been put back, due to the restrictions that have been in place. Please do read the article on how this new community transport initiative is progressing and if you have any questions or views, please get in touch by email:
[email protected] We are aware how residents have become concerned with the problem of litter, especially with so many people spending more time locally over the past year. We have been monitoring the situation with the local Neighbourhood Team, as well as through our own council street operative. We are now giving residents the opportunity to sign up for free Myland Community Council Litter pick packs, to help residents work with us in partnership to keep our large community clean. Full details on how to sign up can be found in the article . Thank you to all our residents who signed up for the ‘Seed Giveaway’ run, in partnership with Together we Grow. Check out the next article, which has an update on the project and the activities happening over the spring months. Recently three councillors (Pauline Bacon, Clare Williams and myself) have had training from Essex Police as Hate Crime Awareness Ambassadors, signposting residents to support. This is an important part of the Council’s community engagement work, as we are committed to ensuring that all in our community feel they are treated with tolerance and respect. In addition, the Council is also now a ‘Hate Incident Reporting Centre’, which will allow people to let us know if any incidents have occurred locally and will enable us to hold community events as restrictions ease. To find out how to get in touch with the ambassadors, read the article in this issue . Thank you to all of you who have signed up for our new monthly council e-newsletter ‘News Update.’ This is an easy way to keep in touch with community events and activities between issues of the Mylander.
