13 Council Reports Health & Wellbeing Working Group Last autumn we invited residents to complete our survey to help us understand residents’ attitudes, behaviour and needs in the area of health & wellbeing. Your responses are now helping the Council to plan activities and services locally. Key issues on health & wellbeing Understanding our residents’ key concerns is crucial for the Council to prioritise future activities and to shape strategies that shape our community. Respondents were asked to rate the importance of certain issues in helping improve health and wellbeing. ’Improving access to the environment / green spaces’ was ranked the highest, followed by ‘Addressing mental health, loneliness & social isolation’, then ‘Supporting families & young people’ followed by ‘Helping residents improve health and fitness’ and finally ‘Making the community more accessible for older citizens.’ When asked for suggestions of other issues that can improve health and wellbeing, top issues mentioned included traffic, speed, congestion & parking; improved food security, local food provision & nutrition awareness; Improved safety / accessibility for pedestrians & cyclists and Protecting the environment / littering.
