22 Council Reports Cymbeline Meadows can be reached by taking Public Footpath 26 from Tufnell Way and under the railway line to Charter Woods. Highwoods Country Park has loads of opportunities for circular walks, and Tower Lane (Bridleway 233) connects Highwoods Country Park with Chesterwell via Fords Lane (PF46) . You can also walk along Public Footpath 48, off the side of Boxted Rd. just to the north of the A12, which leads you to Gt Horkesley. The possibilities are endless! There are many, many places all around us which give us the opportunity to walk with family and friends, whilst giving us a dose of fresh air and some exercise. Have a look at the Myland Community Map - HERE for some ideas of where to go! Happy exploring! Cllr Robert Johnstone Hate Crime Ambassadors On 16th March, Cllrs Pauline Bacon, Jocelyn Law and Clare Williams attended an online Hate Crime Awareness training session led by Lou Middleton, a former police officer who now works for Essex Police as a Hate Crime Officer. Hate incident or hate crime can be defined as “any incident, whether a crime or not, which is perceived by the victim, or any other person to be motivated by hostility or prejudice towards someone based on a personal characteristic”. As a result of this training session, all three councillors who attended have signed up with Essex Police as Hate Crime Ambassadors. Additionally, we decided to propose that Myland Community Council should become a Hate Incident Reporting Centre (HIRC). At the March council meeting, Myland Community Council agreed that it would serve as an HIRC. This is an important step because we want to ensure that Myland is a positive, inclusive and tolerant community. By assisting residents with reporting hate crimes or hate incidents, we wish to underline there is no place for this sort of behaviour within Myland. Remember, you do not have to be the victim of hate crime to report it. You can report what you have seen happening to someone else or report it on their behalf if they do not want to. If you have witnessed or been the victim of hate crime or a hate incident, then you can report it to the police by calling 101. If it is an emergency and someone is in immediate danger, then you should call 999.
