Mylander Issue 87
From inside the community Women’s Institute As we begin our second year since the start of Lockdown, it is with a sense of anticipation and hope for a return to a more ‘normal’ way of life that this report is written. Our Committee members have been working so hard to ensure that communication has been maintained during these very difficult months. They have continued to regularly phone all members to check up on them and to keep them up to date with what is happening at local, County and National level. This has been much appreciated by us all. In addition to the phone calls, a monthly newsletter has been produced and Zoom meetings have been started too. Members have been submitting various articles, recipes, book reviews etc to the newsletter. In April, weather permitting, garden bubbles will be meeting. On June 1st Avril will be holding a fish and chip lunch in her garden for members and during week commencing 21st June, Isobel will be hosting an afternoon tea. Then 2nd July, it is planned that our first proper meeting will be happening! It is hoped to have a speaker talking about colour in the garden. Obviously, all these events are subject to the virus keeping us on the planned Roadmap/ Timetable. A final reminder that new members are always welcome – do come along to Highwoods Community Centre on the first Friday of each month starting at 7.30pm (from 2nd July – hopefully). YOU will be made most welcome. Sandra Jones 33
