Mylander - Issue 88

29 From inside the community Women’s Institute Yet again our plans for reopening have had to change slightly! We had originally planned to start up again on July 2nd, but because of restrictions still being in place, we now look forward to our first meeting for 2021 being on August 6th, when John Barter will talk to us about Frinton-on-Sea. Strangely, our last meeting was in September 2020 and at this meeting John spoke to us about Walton-on-Naze - we know that we shall be able to enjoy a very interesting evening! At our meeting on September 3rd, Gillian McClure will talk to us about writing and illustrating children’s books and on October 1st, Bill Roberts will give us an insight into the ‘Funny Things in the Life of a Policeman’. Despite being unable to meet in our usual way, our Committee Members have worked hard, ensuring that contact continued and this has been much appreciated by everyone. We had a few Zoom meetings, ‘bubble’ meetings in various gardens, a fish and chip lunch and a garden afternoon tea. A picnic lunch is planned for July. After these difficult times, we are so hopeful that we shall soon be able to enjoy our evenings together. We would love YOU to join us, so why not come along and meet us at Highwoods Community Centre at 7.30pm on the first Friday of each month. We look forward to welcoming you. Sandra Jones
