Mylander - Issue 88
31 From inside the community Colchester Countryside Volunteer Rangers (CCVR) Another quiet few months as things are still far from returning to normal, but the volunteers have still been keeping busy with their usual, wonderful work, assisting the Country Park Rangers. The Committee did manage to hold an informal meeting in the Big Garden to discuss plans going forward; however, with so much uncertainty it was difficult to finalise anything. We have had one major change on the Committee, our Secretary Chris has moved out of Colchester so decided to stand down, but will continue with her park volunteering. A big thank you to Chris for her four years dedication as Secretary and we wish her every happiness in her new home. Congratulations and a very warm welcome to Bryan, who has taken on the role. We know he will do an amazing job. Bryan has been a garden volunteer as well for many years and played a major part in helping to run “The Big Friendly Gardeners” prior to Wayne setting up TWG. Paul Horwood Together We Grow (Big Garden) Sadly I had lost touch with the Big Garden for some time, due to the Covid situation, and then I had to go into hospital at the end of March for a long awaited knee replacement. Recovery is going well and I hope to be back doing my usual weekly visit in the near future. I did manage to visit for our CCVR meeting and it was looking great as the garden had remained open, albeit with a reduced number of volunteers. Wayne of course has been busy with all his many projects, (not sure how he keeps up with them all)! We are still hoping to get the new pod installed, but this has been delayed as awaiting final planning permission. A big thank you once again to Myland Community Council for their very generous donations to assist us finalise the pods’ installation. Paul Horwood
