37 Learning & Growing 2nd Myland Brownies Life at 2nd Myland Brownies has continued in a variety of ways over lockdown and the girls have been working hard on badges, while also having fun and keeping their Brownie promise. This term we have met both virtually and in person at the recreation ground and it’s been great to get back to some kind of normal. Everyone adapted so well to working online and we are now having to adapt again to meeting together, while trying to maintain a 2m distance, which is always a fun challenge! We were also able to organise an evening at the Northern Gateway cycling track, where the Brownies can enjoy cycling about in relative safety with their Brownie friends. We have a full unit of 24 girls, 3 leaders, and a young leader / unit helper who is off to university in September. Many congratulations to our other unit helper, Laura, who is now the proud mummy of a baby boy (delivered in lockdown 3). We are looking forward to resuming more face-to-face Guiding in September. Sam Borroff, Brown Owl – 2nd Myland Brownies 1st & 2nd Myland Rainbows Wewelcomed five new starters this termand they all made their Rainbowpromises just before half term – at an outdoor meeting! We transitioned from virtual to outdoor meetings at the end of May. As most of our current groups joined us since last March, it was an opportunity for everyone to renew and affirm their Girlguiding promises. So we’re back to outdoor meetings at Myland Halls for the remainder of this term. The girls have been busy finishing off badge activities, especially a handful who are leaving us for Brownies in September. Two Rainbows especially, (1 from each unit), have reached the amazing achievement of completing Gold Award level, but lots of others have also finished Silver and Bronze stages, and others have finished various themes. It’s certainly been a bumper term for badges. Also don’t forget Myland Rainbows are still accepting new enquires, both for adult volunteers and girls.
