Mylander - Issue 88

Resources, Policy & Strategy Committee It has been a great relief to have been able to hold our first face-to-face committee meeting since March 2020 and to have been able to have the public present. It makes a real difference to be able to work alongside colleagues to review policies, keep an overview of the many projects currently underway through our update Action Plan. (which is available to view on the MCC website), and to have moved forward several projects in principle or to agree expenditure to allow them to be realised. It is encouraging that despite current circumstances, we have been “business as usual” as much as possible and we look forward to a busy year. Cllr Alison Jay Chair Resource, Policy & Strategy Committee Community Engagement Committee The Committee and its members have been busy working on a number of projects. Sadly, it has not been possible to go ahead with the fete on August bank holiday Monday, as circumstances have made it impossible to plan with any certainty. We look forward to a bumper event next year! We are delighted to announce the winners of our first ‘Pride of Myland’ youth award – see the article for full details about our winners and highly commended entrants. Given the difficult time our young people have faced during lockdown, it was heartening to see the positive contribution our children were making in their schools and communities over this period. Well done to everyone who entered! The Council is committed to supporting the natural environment through our own planting, but also in supporting residents’ activities. Our ever-popular Bulb Giveaway returns this autumn on 13th November, see the details in this issue and keep an eye on the MCC Facebook page for updates. Council Reports 6
