Mylander - Issue 89
Chair’s Report The weeks since the last Mylander was delivered have been busy as life continues to come back to “normal”. As Chair, I am keen that we should work in partnership with residents and local voluntary and community groups, as well as other Government authorities. I am therefore very pleased that in this issue we are starting the process of consulting with you all on updates to the Neighbourhood Plan, and have already asked about possible planting ideas for the Severalls Memorial Garden through social media. In the very near future, we will be able to provide an update on plans for the Village Green, at the old Mill Road Rugby club site, where the new boulevard pedestrian and cycling link to the Northern Gateway is very close to completion. We are also, as a Council, making new contacts through community policing, road safety and highway briefings, raising possibilities for a MCC special constable. We have recently agreed to accept responsibility for a limited amount of highways grant from ECC, to allow us to use our own appointed contractors to progress minor repairs to road signs, footways, off road cycle ways and Public Rights of Way, tree and hedge maintenance. I feel confident that as a council we are making real progress with issues that matter to us all, and invite comments either via email or calling the office. Please come and take part in meetings where time is set aside for residents to make suggestions or to ask questions. Cllr Alison Jay Chair of Myland Council 5
