The Mylander - Issue 91

Learning & Growing 1st & 2nd Myland Rainbows A Spring term is always extra special for members of Girlguiding, as we celebrate our annual birthday on 22nd February and this year we raised a total (between both units) of £48 for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts ‘Thinking Day’ fund. Both units made their own pancakes for Pancake Day, and drums and masks to celebrate Year of the Tiger, for Chinese New Year. All the girls have been working on programme activities towards topic themes. When they’ve completed all six themes and a special rainbow project, they achieve a Gold award, so it’s really special when we’re able to present one, but it was just brilliant to present TWO at 1st Myland this term. 1st Myland said goodbye to four girls who were moving up to Brownies at their end of term Pyjama Party and 2nd Myland celebrated their unit’s 21st Birthday this term by going bowling for their end of term party. We’re all looking forward to some sunny, dry weather next term so we can get outside for more activities. Colchester Scouting have invited Colchester Girlguiding to participate in their return St George’s day parade since covid. Both Myland Rainbows are walking in the event, so look out for our flags. We’re glad interest in Rainbows remains steady and if anyone is considering registering their daughter’s name, both units are often at full capacity with small waiting lists, so don’t delay. An earlier registration will definitely help a prompter start date.
