Learning & Growing If any Mylander readers feel they have a special skill that they could teach our girls, please do get in touch with us as we’re always looking for new ideas to work alongside some of the badges. One of the badges particularly difficult to achieve is the Photography badge, so if there is someone out there who knows their stuff, please let us know as we’d love to plan an evening along these lines. We have learnt about Tennis playing team games with tennis balls, we’ve had a visit from Hidden Dragon who taught the girls Kung Fu and Tai Chi – from what we heard some of our girls tested out their new self-defence skills on their parents! Sorry parents! (It was good to know they learnt how to look after themselves though). We’ve also made the obligatory Mother’s Day cards but with a twist – each girl had to write 10 IOUs on lolly sticks for their mums such as 1 x empty dishwasher, 1 x make all the beds etc – we felt it would be a welcome treat for their hardworking mums. We are planning two trips away this year – one to Mersea for our annual water weekend, which can now recommence after two years away. Plus, we’re attending Wellies &Wristbands festival over the August bank holiday weekend in the New Forest. We’ve just finished planning our summer term with lots of outdoor activities now that the weather has improved. Lizzy Steward Rainbow Preschool We have had a busy term this term. We had our OFSTED inspection in January and we are pleased to say we got the rating ‘Good’. We have enjoyed lots of activities/ celebrations such as birthdays, Mother’s Day, St Patrick’s day, Chinese New Year, and we have welcomed a few new children. We have also enjoyed having Boogie Beat in every Thursday, and this will continue into next term. Next term we will be looking at minibeasts, watching some caterpillars growing, planting, transport and are hoping to get to Walton again this year. We are also hoping to go back to Tall Trees care home this year now that restrictions have lifted. 42
