Mylander - November to January 2023 - Issue 93

Learning & Growing 1st & 2nd Myland Rainbows Our Rainbows continue with programme activities and the majority are now achieving Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. The girls especially enjoyed celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with the Myland Brownies, Guides and Trefoil ladies and completing a fun Queen’s challenge badge, alongside getting their official Girlguiding souvenir badge. In the present circumstances, we feel fortunate that the girls were able to post their birthday greetings to Her Majesty on the occasion of her 95th birthday last summer, to which we received a lovely thank you letter from Balmoral Castle. It is something we will treasure forever. In honour of our Patron, both units held a minute silence at their meeting. We were very lucky with the weather when we took both the Rainbow units for coached cycling sessions. They all had a great time improving their skills at the new sports park - Northern Gateway. Finishing the summer term with a picnic in the park (1MR) and a festival party (2MR). Looking forward this autumn term, we shall be marking Fireworks Night, Remembrance Sunday & the traditional Christmas tree decorating for St Michael’s Church. Both units are taking part in Girlguiding Anglia’s Super Rainbows’ event in October. The boxes have arrived and it looks great fun! It is also our intention to take part (again) in the Girlguiding/Odeon screening of Matilda – the musical in December. We welcome new enquiries girls & adult volunteers, but please note that both units have small waiting lists, so don’t wait unit your girls are 5 or nearly 5 to register your interest.
