Mylander - Issue 95

41 Learning & Growing We had a wonderful session testing out some Djembes, which are large African drums. Lucy from Music Makers kindly offered us a session and the girls loved it, the music was fantastic – a fun session all round. Sarah Everett, a local family photographer came to visit us in February to give the girls some top photography tips. This helped them to achieve clause 1 of their photography badge. Some girls have gone further and tried out the tips learnt and created their own galleries – thus completing the badge. For Mother’s Day the girls decorated their own mugs – we thought this would be a lovely lasting gift for their mums. The highlight for many of our girls this term however, will be the overnight stay at Colchester Castle with 200 Rainbows, Brownies and Guides. I’m not sure how much sleep was had, but not many people can say they slept in a castle for the night. 6 of our girls Phoebe, Rosie, Isla, Tilly, Charlotte & Arabella all took their promise there and were word perfect, I’m sure it is a moment they will remember forever. Finally, we had our first Guide complete her Guide Gold Award. Rachel has worked hard on all her badges over the almost 4 years she has been a Guide and we will be very excited to present it to her in a special ceremony. We have also presented 2 Silver Awards to our girls.
