RAF - The Flash - Winter 2025

10 Issue No. 42 July this year saw the annual visit to the Tower of London organised by the members of the Central London & Surrey branch especially Simon Sharpe. The visit followed a new format of the ceremony of the keys on Saturday night and the church parade at Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula Sunday morning. During the service readings were given by Rev Sandy Gall the Association Pardre and Paul Grimley the Association Chairman, which was received warmly by the congregation. The Association members marched through the Tower ground in good order behind Dan Dare our National Standard bearer. The social event in the Keys Bar the private club of the Yeoman Warders was enjoyed by all and the raffles on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon raised a healthy amount for the respective charities. On Saturday evening Paul Grimley presented honorary life membership to retired Chief Yeoman Warder Pete McGowran and Yeoman Tower of London Weekend Goaler Bob Loughlin. He also presented honorary membership to serving Chief Yeoman Warder Paul “Fraggle” Langley and Yeoman Warders Garry McCormick and Tam Reilly, the recipients were presented a certificate, pin badge and membership card. These awards are an important recognition of the fantastic representation our Yeoman Warders give to the Corps. The weekend was enjoyed by all those attending, aside of the ceremonial elements the social events in the Tower and in the Union Jack Club gave everyone a chance to catch up with friends they haven’t seen for years. The weekend is well worth the trip to London, and I would encourage anyone from the Association to attend next year.
