The Big Pitch - NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme 2022

THE BIG PITCH 26 | Richard Hixson Consultant and Founder of HealthCare Ocean Richard Hixson is a Consultant in Critical Care Medicine who holds positions in sustainability and planetary health from local to national level. Richard is the cofounder of HealthCare Ocean and works with many organisations including NHS England on sustainable procurement; and the UK Government in developing a vision that recognises that delivering the UN Ocean Decade’s societal outcomes has both a UK and international dimension. His ocean work linking the goals of healthcare, our suppliers and the container shipping industry earned him four invitations to speak at COP 26. As part of his drive to improve planetary health, Richard designed CPDmatch – a website and app which is to healthcare education what booking.com is to hotels. CPDmatch improves equality in access to education for all healthcare professionals, reduces environmental impact through geographic matching and provides a level playing field for advertising independent of marketing budgets; helping all providers commercialise their events. CPDmatch is not ‘just a website and app’ but an advanced marketing platformwhich alerts registered users to new events of interest and provides a ‘virtual on-demand’ facility permitting all healthcare professionals to immediately find online resources which can be undertaken from the comfort of their own sofa. Richard developed CPDmatch from concept to a platformwhich accommodates education providers and healthcare professionals from around the world; providing a central access point for those in lowerresourced countries to find high-quality affordable/free virtual education. www.cpdmatch.com Email: [email protected] Twitter: @CPDmatch LinkedIn: /richardhixson Devina Maru GP Registrar and Co-Founder of Health Pioneers Charity Devina Maru is a co-founder of Health Pioneers Charity.
