The Big Pitch - NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme 2022

THE BIG PITCH 6 | Foreword The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme is the world’s largest entrepreneurial workforce development programme in healthcare, providing fellows with the skills, knowledge and experience needed to successfully develop and scale innovative health care solutions to the challenges facing society. Tonight is both an end of year celebration for current Clinical Entrepreneurs and a welcome event for the 170 new fellows who join this year’s cohort. Since its launch in 2016, I have seen the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme grow tremendously in scale and impact. With over 870 Clinical Entrepreneurs (including doctors, dentists, healthcare scientists, nurses and midwives, allied health professionals, pharmacists, and non-clinical staff), the programme has made a great contribution to transforming patient care and outcomes and I look forward to seeing this continue. Professor Stephen Powis National Medical Director NHS England and NHS Improvement Welcome to the annual NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme Big Pitch event. This evening, we will be celebrating some of the exciting accomplishments our NHS entrepreneurs have achieved over the past year. I hope that you also reflect on your own achievements this year, especially in the context of the pandemic which has undoubtedly provided an additional challenge to us all. Our entrepreneurs play a vital role in supporting the COVID response, not only through your innovations, where you have offered solutions to some of the most pressing challenges across the NHS, but also in your day jobs. I would like to thank every one of our Clinical Entrepreneurs for the commitment that has been shown in supporting the NHS during a very testing time. Tim Ferris Director of Transformation, NHS England and NHS Improvement
