| 7 Innovation Transforming The NHS The NHS has a long-standing history of supporting innovation and pioneering technologies. It is fantastic to see so many of our NHS staff continuing to do this with support from the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme. Tonight, we are here to celebrate that the Clinical Entrepreneurs form a diverse, creative and inclusive network. These entrepreneurs have gained the commercial skills, knowledge and experience needed to develop and spread innovation in the NHS, for the ultimate benefit of our patients. Empowering our workforce, the most valuable asset of the NHS, is vital to enable the NHS to deliver on its commitments in the NHS Long Term Plan and look forward beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. We need to continue to equip our staff to meet the needs of our patients, and the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme plays a vital and unique role in helping us do this. Matt Whitty Director of Innovation, Research and Life Sciences and Chief Executive of the Accelerated Access Collaborative at NHS England and NHS Improvement I’ve benefitted from the support and opportunity provided by the programme, and I think the NHS Trusts I’ve worked for have also benefitted from the unique skillset I’ve been equipped with.
