The Big Pitch 2024

| 7 I am delighted to welcome the new cohort of Clinical Entrepreneurs to the programme and offer my congratulations to those that have taken part this past year. I am impressed by the diversity of ideas coming forward through the programme and to see so many of our staff stepping forward to offer solutions to the challenges we face in health and care. This year, I am delighted to launch the Patient Entrepreneur Programme. We know that co-producing what we do with patients creates innovations which make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. Harnessing the insight, experience, and ideas, from both our staff and patients, we will be better equipped to deliver the progress we want to see in our NHS. I would like to wish all of the Clinical and Patient Entrepreneurs the very best of luck in their journeys and look forward to seeing their progress with support from the programme. Dr Vin Diwakar Interim National Director of Transformation, NHS England This programme, now in its eighth year, enables entrepreneurs and creative thinkers to pursue their innovation within the health service, without having to leave their clinical roles. It provides a supportive community of like-minded individuals who share a common vision of transforming healthcare through innovation. Over the past few years, the need to embrace a culture of innovation in the NHS has been amplified especially in the face of unprecedented challenges and demands. We are delighted to see the Clinical Entrepreneurs progressing along the innovation pipeline and having a strong presence in applications to our later-stage innovation programmes, such as the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) and NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA). These programmes aim to build strong innovative foundations for the future of the NHS, by scaling up and spreading evidence-based solutions that can improve patient outcomes and efficiency. Congratulations to everyone who have completed their year on the programme and thank you for your commitment and contribution to the NHS. I look forward to seeing how our NHS workforce can continue to play a vital role in making the NHS the most innovative healthcare system in the world. Verena Stocker Interim CEO of the Accelerated Access Collaborative and Director of Innovation, Research, Life Sciences and Transformation Strategy at NHS England
