| 9 The Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) is a unique initiative that empowers clinicians to turn their ideas into reality. Since 2016, the CEP has grown into a vibrant network of over 1,000 innovators, who are supported by a diverse range of partners from charity, industry, patient groups and mentors. As the Co-Clinical Lead for the past two years, it has been humbling to witness the amazing achievements of our Clinical Entrepreneurs (CEs). The CEP is more than a platform for innovation, it is a catalyst for change. Our CEs are tackling some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare, from improving access and quality, to reducing costs and inequalities. They are also creating new pathways and opportunities for themselves and others, as they develop their skills, networks, and careers. The CEP’s sister programme, InSites, supports the adoption and scaling of innovations across the NHS, while our Patient Entrepreneur Programme pilot, will welcome, for the first time, Patient Entrepreneurs to our growing community. The impact of the CEP has been recognised and validated by research, published this year, which showed that the CEP is a conducive environment for physicians to innovate and retains talent within the NHS. It also revealed how entrepreneurial behaviours can alter an individual’s professional career trajectory. Some of our alumni have become serial entrepreneurs and influential leaders within the NHS. As we enter our eighth year, we are proud of the culture of innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship fostered by the programme. We believe that the CEP is not just a programme, but a community of change-makers. We are thrilled to welcome our newest cohort to the programme, to join us in transforming healthcare for the benefit of all.
