2 Issue No. 43 Time and again, our troops have exceeded expectations, operating with distinction under difficult circumstances and further strengthening the reputation of the RAF Regiment across Defence. Their actions continue to prove beyond doubt that we remain a highly capable and indispensable element of the British Armed Forces. Recent high-profile operations and media coverage have brought well-deserved attention to the exceptional work often carried out quietly and without recognition behind the scenes. Reaching this point has required serving members to compete, perform, and excel alongside other branches of the Armed Forces in demanding operational environments. Their achievements stand as clear evidence that today’s Gunners are every bit the equal of those who served before them, proudly upholding the standards and traditions of the Corps for future generations. In April, the Association held an interim AGM at RAF Waddington. While many members attended in person, others joined virtually via Microsoft Teams, ensuring wider participation for those unable to travel. This hybrid approach has proven highly effective, allowing members across the Association to contribute fully through discussion, comment, and vote. The event was expertly organised by Yvonne and Alan Pugh of the Lincolnshire Branch, marking the first occasion that a branch has delivered an AGM on behalf of the Association. Going forward, this model will become standard practice, with the National Management Committee providing strategic direction while branches lead delivery on the ground — giving members a stronger voice and greater involvement in the future of the Association. We have also seen excellent attendance across a wide range of commemorative and social events, including the St Anne’s Rededication, the Marne Barracks Memorial Service, St Clement Danes Founders Day, the Not Forgotten Association Buckingham Palace Garden Party, and the many reunions and gatherings held throughout our community. By the time this edition reaches publication, we will also have commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the Corps Memorial Garden, where the majority of branch standards are expected to parade alongside what promises to be a proud and significant gathering of the RAF Regiment family. The Association remains fully committed to supporting the needs of its members wherever possible, while ensuring the National Management Committee continues to safeguard and uphold the principles, values, and aims upon which the Association was founded.
