Brentwoodian 2022

This was a two-day competition over five rounds. Despite being the youngest team in the competition, Brentwood won 3 out of 5 matches to finish joint 4th and win the Plate trophy for the highest finishers of those who lost their first round. Our team were Nina and Max Pert, Jaden Omoruyi, Jaideep Cheema, Shayan Gohil, Taej Siddharth and Yahya Ferdhaus. AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND CHESS British Chess, in partnership with the EJCA and Brentwood School, organised a FIDE-rated weekend of chess over August Bank Holiday weekend for adults and juniors. There was a three-day standard play event with 26 players and a one-day rapid play with 92 players. The standard play was won by top seed, Savas Stoica, (FIDE rating 2150) on 6/7. Brentwood School juniors Nina Pert, Max Pert (top U1800 player) and Jaden Omoruyi were part of a very strong field. The rapid play was split into two sections – the Open and Under 1300. Brentwood School student Markos Mouratidis won the Under 1300 section with 5.5/6. 125
