Brentwoodian 2022

Having been in West House since Year 7, I have taken part in many House events. However, my favorite event has to be one of the headline events, ‘A Moment of Sporting Brilliance’, in which Gene Watts and I recreated Kieran Trippier’s kick that found the top corner with a stunning free kick to open the scoring in only the fifth minute against Croatia in the World Cup semi-finals in Moscow. We recreated this in Gene’s back garden. We won this event convincingly, our recreation was identical to the free kick, thanks to Gene's flawless technique, and video editing expertise! Overall, I am really proud to be a part of West House; the sense of community is unmatched. Being a House Captain comes with an important responsibility. I have worked with many excellent teachers in the House, who have helped me not just with my role as a House Captain but also skills that I have improved on, like my Public Speaking and organisation. It is so important that the House System runs smoothly, so I thank Mrs Wall, Mrs Ellis, and everyone else in West for working so hard, setting a virtuous example and helping me through my Brentwood School journey. #westisbest Thank you, Jem. I could not have put it better myself. 164
