| 39 P R O G R A M M E Dr Karen Marshall BreathTec Dr Karen Marshall is a Respiratory Nurse Consultant. She began her career in 1982 and has more than 36 years of experience caring for people with lung disease. Karen developed an interested in the psychological well-being of respiratory patients, completing a post graduate diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). She developed a nurse led intervention using CBT principles, completing her PhD in 2016. Her pioneering research using CBT to support patients with COPD has shown major benefits, including reduced anxiety and fewer hospital admissions. Karen co-developed a digital intervention called BreathTec with patients and a colleague, based on her research to support more patients at scale, closer to home. In 2024, she became only the second nurse to receive the British Thoracic Society’s Meritorious Service Award, recognising her exceptional impact on respiratory care. www.breathtec.co.uk Glenda Devlin Founder, Peggi App Glenda Devlin is the Founder of Your Health and Care, the company behind the digital platform ‘peggi’. An accomplished leader, Glenda holds an MBA, is a qualified social worker, and holds qualifications in management and teaching. With over 30 years of cross-sector experience across the public and private health and social care systems, her background ranges from frontline practice to executive leadership, including roles as Director and Chief Executive. Driven by a passion for improving service delivery, she has developed residential and fostering services across the UK, alongside adult home healthcare services in both the UK and Asia. Her entrepreneurial journey was inspired by her aunt’s dementia diagnosis. After balancing her corporate career with family caregiving duties, Glenda exited corporate employment to co-design peggi.
