Brentwoodian 2022

"we won our first national tennis title & had a number of epic victories" This year, I have played for the U13 B team (for the year above) in the Essex cup and I have really enjoyed playing a singles match and a doubles match against others of the same seeding. This has really helped me improve my tennis as I have always had really challenging matches. Despite getting knocked out after winning our group, the Essex cup was an amazing opportunity for me. Finally, this year I had the privilege of playing in the staff-student tennis tournament, where I was partnered up with Mrs Roast for the semi-finals. I really appreciated playing against a combination of students and staff in a really enjoyable and fun atmosphere to conclude the season! It has been an extremely successful year for our U15 teams who have won a number of titles this year. A huge congratulations to our U15 Boys’ A Team who were crowned Essex Champions after winning the Essex Schools Team Tennis Division 1 with great wins over Felsted, Coopers’ and Westcliff High School. Our U15 Girls’ A Team were also unbeaten this year to claim the Division 2 title with wins over New Hall, Chelmsford County High and Forest School. Congratulations to Edie Griffiths (Year 9) who won our “Play your way to Wimbledon” tournament during our Games and training sessions. Edie progressed as the School winner through to the county stage where she won all of her matches to advance through to the National Finals which were held at the All England Club. Playing on the prestigious grass courts at Wimbledon in front of Tim Henman, Edie defeated a number of the top girls in the country to win the national title, an amazing achievement of which all of Edie’s coaches, teachers and teammates are incredibly proud.
