THE BIG PITCH 10 | NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme Expansion Northern Ireland “Following a pilot of the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme in 2021/22, Invest Northern Ireland committed to funding the CEP for a further three years. The programme is supported locally by HIRANI, delivered by Anglia Ruskin University and is part of the NHS Accelerated Access Collaborative. The CEP allows HSC staff, students studying healthcare degrees and postgraduate students in health related disciplines to develop on an innovative idea over a 12 month period which will benefit the wider patient and staff community throughout the HSC NI and NHS. In October 2022 Invest NI, in partnership with HIRANI, hosted the first NHS CEP Pitstop to Northern Ireland. The Pitstop, which was led by Professor Tony Young, was a two-day event which included engagement with local companies and stakeholders. Over 50 Clinical Entrepreneurs joined us for a range of talks, workshops and networking with innovators from the Northern Ireland life and health sciences ecosystem. Through the CEP, local entrepreneurs accelerated their innovative ideas, resulting in collaborative connections to scale health innovation, securing further investment in Northern Ireland.
