The Big Pitch 2023

| 7 It is wonderful to be back celebrating another year of the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme. I have had the pleasure of being involved with the programme for many years now and it is truly fantastic to see so many innovations develop from an initial idea to making a real impact in the NHS. We are now regularly seeing products and services developed on the programme progress through the innovation pipeline to market launch and adoption in the NHS. Clinical Entrepreneur innovations are now a consistent presence in applications to our later-stage innovation programmes, such as the AI Award, Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) and the NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA), and are also attaining places on national frameworks. The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, the biggest entrepreneurial workforce development programme of its kind, supports the NHS workforce to develop, evaluate and drive innovation on the frontline. Through this programme, our NHS workforce can play a vital role in making the NHS the most innovative healthcare system in the world. Congratulations to all those that have participated in the programme this year and I’m excited to see what next year brings for the new cohort and those that continue to be part of the programme. Matt Whitty Director of Innovation, Research and Life Sciences at NHS England and Chief Executive of the Accelerated Access Collaborate (AAC) at NHS England I am delighted to welcome the new cohort of Clinical Entrepreneurs and congratulate those that have completed their year on the programme. Transforming the NHS is more crucial than ever for us to deliver on our ambition to provide the best possible care to patients. Having a workforce that has excellent digital, technical, and commercial skills is vital to this transformation. Not only do we need to bring the best innovations from across the globe into the NHS, but we also need to identify the most promising innovations coming from inside the NHS itself. You all, our Clinical Entrepreneurs past and present, have an important role to play in this journey. I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact that your innovations, developed on the programme, will bring to our patients and staff. Dr Tim Ferris National Director of Transformation at NHS England An amazing programme for anyone who sees entrepreneurial opportunities in healthcare to enhance patient care.
